Unraveling DNA: Strawberry Science Exploration

Join us for an exciting and educational journey into the world of genetics with our "Strawberry DNA Extraction" class! Under the expert guidance of Stephen Soltish from the 4-H Youth and Family Development Program, students will dive into hands-on science as they mash strawberries to release their DNA. Through simple chemistry, they'll extract and observe the strands of DNA with the naked eye, learning about the fascinating world of genetics in the process.

This engaging class is part of our 4-H Explorations for Educators series, presented by the Cornell Cooperative Extension-Westchester County (CCE/WC). Designed to augment school classroom instruction, these programs emphasize "learning by doing" and are tailored to meet the needs and abilities of participating youth. Join us for a unique opportunity to explore science in a fun and interactive way, and see the invisible made visible!
