Meeting with elected officials at Hudson Park Greenhouse
Today was a beautiful day to meet with some of our elected representatives at the Hudson Park Greenhouse. We met Jim Maisano, Westchester County Legislator of District 11, Amy Paulin, NY State Assemblywoman for District 88 and Jay Wegimont who represented Eliot Engel of the 16th NY District, US House of Representatives. Greenhouse representatives included Millie Radonjic, Margaret Chadwick, Don Ciota, Kimberly Martelli and Steven Nakashima.
During the visit we presented our project to renovate the greenhouses at Hudson Park and explained our vision for promoting environmental awareness and sustainable development through education and horticulture activities. We talked about our history, recent successes and our challenges. Our guests showed a keen interest in this project and expressed their support. They encouraged us to continue our efforts to actively grow public awareness and raise funds for rebuilding the greenhouses and for community programs. They also encouraged us to formalize our relationship with the City of New Rochelle to serve as the focal point for future activities concerning the greenhouses.
